On Tuesday 13th August 1940, a formation of Dornier Do17s of KG2, returning to France after bombing the aerodrome at RAF Eastchurch, was intercepted by Hurricanes of No.111 Squadron.
During the action, Sgt. William Dymond, portrayed here flying 'JU-Li', claimed the destruction of one of the Dorniers and damage to a second.
Sgt. Dymond DFM was killed in action over the Thames estuary on the 2nd September 1940.
