Neil Cameron trained as a pilot and was posted to number 1 Squadron in September 1940. After a few weeks there, he went to 17 Squadron which he flew in the closing stages of the Battle of Britain. As a fighter pilot in 1941, Cameron was involved in the little known program of air assistance provided by the RAF to the Soviet Union. In this book, he recounts this and his many other war time experiences with candour, accuracy and humour.
Neil Cameron had written much of his autobiography before his death in 1985. The manuscript was then completed according to his wish by colleagues from his service and academic days. It reveals not only a fine leader in the publics fear, but a loyal family man, a committed Christian and a keen sportsman.
